In the last fortnight Berwyndale South-9 has produced an average of 709,000 cubic feet per day (cfd) and Argyle-11 has produced an average of 496,000 cfd.
QGC said the speed of the increases was even more significant. In the past week, daily peaks of 830,000 cfd at Berwyndale South-9 and 576,000 cfd at Argyle-11 have been recorded.
"The performance of the two wells is primarily due to QGC's new well completion design and not to characteristics unique to these two well sites," QGC managing director Richard Cottee said.
"This means that the overall performance of both the Berwyndale South and Argyle pilots is likely to far exceed the earlier indications, and this will impact dramatically on the development economics for both the Berwyndale South and Argyle gasfields."
The Berwyndale South field is in Petroleum Licence PL 201 contained in ATP 632P. It is jointly owned by QGC (50%) and CS Energy (50%).
The Argyle field is in Petroleum Licence Application PLA 179, where the overarching title is ATP 620P – jointly owned by QGC (59.375%) and Pangaea Oil & Gas Pty Ltd (40.625%).
QGC operates both fields.
At 12.00 (AEDT) QGC shares were up three-and-a-half cents or 10.6% to 36.5 cents.
